A New Era Begins with Eco-Logic at the Helm

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is pleased to announce that Eco-Logic Education & Environment Services has been awarded the tender to conduct commercial tour operations at the iconic Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet.

This comes after a best practice public Expression of Interest process in line with the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978.

The Authority assumed the role of Crown land manager for the Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet from Surf Coast Shire on 1 May 2024. At the time of transfer, there were no valid tenure arrangements in place.

Under a five-year agreement, Eco-Logic will bring its knowledge and expertise to the lighthouse visitor experience, a site made famous by its appearance in the popular children’s television series Round The Twist.

Constructed in 1891, the working lighthouse retains many of its original features, including its breathtaking staircase, providing visitors with a unique and immersive historical experience.

The popular Split Point Lighthouse tours have long been recognised as a cornerstone of the Aireys visitor experience.

As the new land manager, the Authority is committed to ensuring that health, safety, and visitor satisfaction remain top priorities as we enter this exciting new phase.

Quotes attributable to Director Community, Corporate Affairs and Visitor Economy Andy Mathers:

"We’re pleased to award the tender to Eco-Logic, whose deep connection to the local community make them a fantastic partner for the Split Point Lighthouse.

" We’re looking forward to working with Eco-Logic and the wider community to ensure the Great Ocean Road remains one of Australia’s most iconic and sought-after tourist destinations."
