The Apollo Bay Recreation Reserve is set to undergo its most exciting transformation yet, with new upgrades designed to elevate the camping experience for locals and visitors alike.
We pleased to announce that ACE Landscape Services Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract to lead the redevelopment of the Accommodation Precinct at the northern end of this much-loved campground.
Concluding mid-year, this revitalisation project will introduce state-of-the-art features that blend comfort, sustainability, and natural beauty, including:
Addition of 10 Safari Eco Tents and 10 Pop-up tents, offering a stylish and immersive camping experience, including 5 options that are fully accessible with DDA-compliant bathrooms.
New road alignment and civil works to improve functionality and visitor flow.
Re-grassed green spaces, enhancing recreation and relaxation opportunities.
Upgraded signage, park benches, and bin enclosures to elevate the visitor experience.
The project will deliver a more immersive, sustainable, and accessible camping experience for all while maintaining the Reserve’s welcoming charm. The works will not limit access to the sports and recreation facilities in the Reserve.
To ensure safety and facilitate the upgrades, the Reserve will be closed to camping during the works, except on the following dates when limited camping areas will be available outside the construction zone:
Easter Long Weekend – Thursday, April 17 to Tuesday, April 22, 2025
Anzac Day – Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27, 2025
Great Ocean Road Running Festival – Friday, May 16 to Sunday, May 18, 2025
The redevelopment is made possible through funding from Regional Development Victoria, the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, and the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority.
The upgrades are expected to be completed by mid-2025.
