The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is seeking community feedback to shape the future of the mixed-use site on top of the Torquay Angling Club at Fishermans Beach.

The site has been licensed to a commercial food and beverage operator for the past seven years under a trial arrangement, while maintaining community access to the viewing platform that overlooks the magnificent Fishermans Beach.

We want to better understand how community members use and value the mixed-use site on top of the Torquay Angling Club, which includes a viewing platform and leased commercial premises. This will help inform a new concept design for the site, inclusive of a food and beverage offering and community use zone.

The consultation does not include other tenancies or the use of the Fishermans Beach precinct. Community consultation opens today at www.haveyoursay.greatoceanroadauthority.vic.gov.au/fishos-platform and runs until Sunday 1 September 2024.

Community drop-in sessions will also be held on-site on Saturday 24 August from 1 -3 pm, and Friday 30 August from 7 am to 9 am. An upgrade to the Fishermans Beach car park and surrounds is also progressing, with construction to be completed later this year.

Attribute to Director Community, Corporate Affairs and Visitor Economy Andy Mathers:

“We know that locals and visitors love Fishermans Beach – whether it’s for walking, enjoying a cup of coffee, or simply taking in the stunning views.

“We want to keep a food and drink offering here that really fits with what the community wants and needs."

“There are opportunities to improve accessibility and best match the design of the site to meet community needs."

This is one of several projects we have underway to improve Fishermans Beach for the local community and visitors alike."
