Port Campbell residents will be safer in emergencies with the local recreation reserve now supported with a back-up energy system from the Victorian Government.

The Victorian Government’s Community Hub program has supported 24 Victorian towns with energy back-up systems that enable residents to access hot water, heat food, and charge devices during widespread power outages.

The Port Campbell Recreation Reserve system was supported by the Victorian Government through the Energy Resilience Solutions program.

The system includes rooftop solar panels, batteries, and generators to maintain energy during a power outage.

If you are experiencing a prolonged power outage, and it is safe to stay in your town, reach out to your local council to see if your nearest community hub is open.

If you are not sure if it is safe to stay in your town, please visit Vic Emergency for more details.

Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Accommodation Servies Manager Brendan Parker said:

"The Port Campbell hub will provide reliable energy during emergencies as well as a safe space for families to gather, charge devices, and stay connected.”

“When severe weather strikes, guests at the reserve and Port Campbell locals can know that systems are in place to keep essential services running.”
