Outrigger Canoe Club Settles into New Home at Fishermans Beach
Published on 15 November 2024
Victoria's only open-ocean outrigger canoe club is settling into its new home at Fishermans Beach in Torquay.
This move was made to help maximise space at the newly upgraded car park at Fishermans Beach, designated as a popular boat ramp area.
With 24 spacious parking bays suitable for cars and trailers, improved pedestrian crossings, a shared pathway, and designated parking for boaters with limited mobility, the upgraded car park provides easier access for beach goers, including young families, wheelchair users, and people using mobility devices.
A DDA-compliant beach access ramp is also now in place, supporting accessibility for all.
The Torquay Outrigger Canoe Club is eager to continue growing its vibrant paddling community and looks forward to introducing more people to the sport.
Unlike many team sports, outrigger paddling is a true team endeavour, where every individual works in unison to cross the finish line together.
