Progress on Point Grey redevelopment in Lorne
Published on 24 March 2025
The Point Grey Redevelopment in Lorne is making significant progress as it advances to the next stage of project delivery.
As part of this forward momentum, the current usage agreements for the Lorne Fishing Co-operative will conclude on April 30, 2025, enabling essential early works to begin on this transformative community project.
We have agreed to provide the Lorne Historical Society with additional time beyond the current agreement date to safely remove and relocate all Historical Society items from the Co-op building. The vacancy period up until 31 May recognises the special care needed for the historical artifacts and archives.
The same vacancy period has been communicated to the Lorne Aquatic and Angling Club and the Lorne Art Bazaar.
The old Fishing Co-Operative building dates back to 1949 and was assessed as part of the Opportunities and Constraints phase as part of the master planning and design process for the site.
Due to its age and its location near the shoreline, the building has suffered from significant damage, primarily to the roof and masonry walls, with cracking, water damage, damp and rust found throughout.
We haven't made any decisions about the old Fishing Co-Operative building yet but we are investigating all options as part of early works.
We are planning to seek community input on the Draft Urban Design Framework for Point Grey in June. This will set the direction for the site's development.
