Have you ever wanted to work at an operational lighthouse?

There is an exciting opportunity on offer to conduct tours of the famous Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet.

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is inviting potential operators to apply for the chance to provide tours of the historic icon.

The Authority is now managing Crown land in the Split Point Lighthouse precinct, following a transfer of responsibilities from Surf Coast Shire Council on 1 May 2024.

Among the first management actions is an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to contract a tour operator for the lighthouse.

Constructed in 1891, the working lighthouse maintains several of its original features, including the stunning staircase.

The 34-metre-tall structure provides 360-degree views of the coast, allowing visitors to watch whales, dolphins, and other marine life in their natural environment.

The lighthouse is also well known for its starring role in popular children’s television series Round The Twist, while also appearing in films and other shows, such as MasterChef Australia.

All interested parties are encouraged to apply.

Applications close 5pm on Friday 2 August 2024.
